IRGC launches new missile and drone strikes
Tehran says attacks target U.S. bases and Israel
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched another large-scale missile and drone strike campaign against regional US military installations and Israeli sites in the occupied territories, the IRGC said, describing the action as part of "Operation True Promise 4." The IRGC's public relations arm said the latest wave—conducted under the code phrase "Ali Valiollah"—used Khorramshahr, Fattah and Khaybar liquid- and solid-fuel missiles alongside strategic drones, and that the weapons struck designated targets successfully.
The strikes were framed by the IRGC as retaliation for a prior US–Israeli offensive it says killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and senior commanders; Tehran has repeatedly accused Washington and Israel of large-scale attacks on both military and civilian sites, causing substantial casualties and damage. The IRGC statement linked the timing of the operation to religious observance and the appointment of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s new Supreme Leader.
Thick smoke continued rising from the Shahran oil depot in Iran’s capital Tehran after a strike attributed to the United States and Israel.
The strike caused explosions and significant damage at the fuel storage site, according to local reports.
Authorities said several fuel tankers and vehicles were damaged as the fire spread through parts of the depot.
Iran’s National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company said fuel stocks at the targeted depots had previously been reduced to minimum levels and that fuel supply was being maintained through alternative sources.
