New York wins 4-0 as Stanton drives offense

Yankees beat Red Sox behind Stanton

Giancarlo Stanton powered the New York Yankees to a 4-0 victory in Boston, launching a leadoff solo home run and finishing with three RBIs as New York opened a three-game series and began a nine-game, three-city road trip. Stanton’s second-inning homer off Connelly Early was his third of the season; he added a two-run double in the sixth after walks to Amed Rosario and Aaron Judge set the table. Stanton, Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Randal Grichuk each had two hits as the Yankees collected 10 total.

Luis Gil (1-1) delivered a strong outing, working into the seventh and giving up just two hits while striking out two across 83 pitches. He left with one out in the seventh after issuing consecutive walks to Trevor Story and Ceddanne Rafaela; reliever Brent Headrick entered and stranded both runners to preserve the shutout. Early (1-1) was removed with one out in the sixth after allowing three runs on five hits and issuing three walks in the inning that invited New York’s scoring.

Boston was stifled offensively, managing only four hits—Marcelo Mayer’s double and singles by Willson Contreras, Carlos Narváez and Rafaela—and failing to score. The Yankees pushed their lead to 4-0 in the eighth when Cody Bellinger singled and later came home on Grichuk’s one-out double.

The win marked New York’s fifth in six games, driven by timely hitting and effective pitching, while underscoring persistent offensive struggles for the Red Sox, who have been held to three runs or fewer in the majority of their contests this season. New York’s balanced attack and bullpen response preserved momentum as the team embarked on an extended road stretch, and Boston must address its inconsistent offense to avoid slipping further in the standings.
