The US ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, warned that insecurity in Mexico cools investment and affirmed that the subject is fundamental, even more than the T-MEC and the Bicentennial Understanding since if there are no results in security, everything will continue to “shake”.

After meeting with members of the business sector at their residence the diplomat referred to the acts of violence in the last two weeks in Mexico and expressed the concern of businessmen to invest in the country.

“The plans that the United States and Mexico have are good plans, what is required now are results. The impact on investment is very real, with uncertainty if investment cools in the United States and Mexico. There should be more investment but insecurity is a big factor for businessmen”, he emphasised.

The American indicated that the cooperation in the Bicentennial Understanding and considered that the issue of security must be discussed with the sectors of government, civil society, and the private sector for there to be results.

After expressing concern about the assassination of the Jesuit priests in Chihuahuaaffirmed that the representatives of the Church should also be included in the cooperation against this scourge.

After the update of the Travel Alert 2022 of the US Department of State to prevent its citizens from visiting our country, with a map in hand, affirmed that the objective of cooperation between both nations is to make the Mexican Republic green.
