Tehran holds mass funeral for officials

A funeral processions for Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani, Commander of Basij Major General Gholam Reza Soleimani, and dozens of Navy servicemen was held in Tehran.

A huge crowd of people attended the funeral of the martyrs in Tehran.

The service was participated by officials and people of different walks of life. Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani was martyred along with his son in an Israeli airstrike in Tehran on March 17.

The commander of Basij, Major General Gholam Reza Soleimani, was also martyred in an aerial attack by Israeli fighter jets in Tehran.

The event also included the funeral of dozens of Iranian Navy sailors from the Dena destroyer, which was attacked by a torpedo from the US Navy off the coast of Sri Lanka on March 4.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

Larijani was widely viewed as one of Iran's most powerful figures and a confidant of slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his son and successor, Mojtaba Khamenei.
