Laporta re-elected Barcelona president
Members back plan for club recovery
Joan Laporta has been re-elected president of FC Barcelona after a member vote, securing another term to lead the club through ongoing financial recovery and sporting rebuilding. Laporta—who previously led the club from 2003–2010 and returned in 2021—ran on a platform prioritizing financial stability, continued competitiveness and long-term development; his win signals member endorsement of the course set during his most recent presidency.
Addressing substantial debt accumulated in recent seasons, Laporta pledged to press on with fiscal reforms that have already shaped transfer and contract decisions, while balancing investment in the squad and infrastructure. Central to his plan is the Espai Barça redevelopment of Camp Nou and surrounding facilities, a major modernization project intended to boost revenue and transform the club’s matchday and commercial capacities.
Sporting policy under Laporta emphasizes Barcelona’s identity—youth development through La Masia and attacking football—alongside efforts to enhance the club’s global commercial footprint. His administration has promoted international partnerships to grow revenue and broaden Barça’s global reach.
After results were announced, Laporta thanked club members and called for unity among supporters, players and management as the club navigates rebuilding on and off the pitch. Observers say the outcome offers continuity at a pivotal moment: with major infrastructure work underway and the need to reconcile debt reduction with ambition in La Liga and European competition, the renewed mandate gives Laporta the authority to continue implementing his financial and sporting strategy.
