Iran reviews U.S. peace proposal

Tehran says response will come via Pakistan

Iran reviews U.S. peace proposal

Iran is still reviewing a recent U.S. peace proposal, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said, with Tehran yet to reach a conclusion and its response expected to be relayed through Pakistani mediation once finalized. Talks via Islamabad have focused on Iran’s own 14‑point plan to end the conflict with the United States and Israel, which Tehran says it has already sent to Washington; U.S. officials have likewise submitted their views in a proposed plan. Earlier reports suggested an understanding might be emerging on easing a U.S. naval blockade in return for a phased reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, but officials gave no confirmation.

The comments follow an April ceasefire that paused more than 40 days of fighting and subsequent rounds of Islamabad‑brokered talks that so far produced proposals exchanged but no agreement. Despite intermittent exchanges of fire, the U.S. president stated the truce remained intact while warning of further action if Iran does not sign a deal.

Tehran emphasized that final decisions rest with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, with government institutions coordinated under his authority. A parliament member dismissed U.S. claims that 400 kilograms of uranium had been removed as fabrication, while Washington says it intends to obtain enriched material. The diplomatic back-and-forth continues as mediators await Iran’s formal response.
