Missile strike hits Tel Aviv
Injuries reported as regional tensions rise
Israeli authorities reported a missile strike hit Tel Aviv, with police and emergency teams at debris sites and several people injured, officials said. The strike came amid continued hostilities between the U.S.-Israeli coalition and Iran, now in its fifth week, as Washington offered conflicting signals about prospects for ending the conflict, with U.S. leaders indicating both potential direct talks with Tehran and the possibility of winding down operations without a formal deal.
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said its naval forces executed a series of rapid operations targeting U.S. and Israeli assets across the region. In a statement, the IRGC claimed four successful actions as part of “Operation True Promise 4,” including a ballistic-missile strike on a container ship identified as “Express Halfong” in the central Persian Gulf; a drone attack on what it described as a U.S. Marine gathering site on the UAE coast; destruction of a Hawk anti-drone system near the U.S. Fifth Fleet base by drones; and strikes on two advanced early-warning radar systems at Ahmad Al-Jaber airbase.
The IRGC warned the Strait of Hormuz remains under its control and pledged to target any hostile movements with missiles and drones. Tehran’s statements framed the operations as retaliation for a large-scale campaign by U.S. and Israeli forces, which Iran says followed the killing of its leader and senior commanders on February 28. That campaign reportedly included extensive air strikes across Iran, causing heavy casualties and infrastructure damage. Iranian forces have responded with waves of missile and drone attacks on U.S. and Israeli positions and regional bases, escalating tensions and raising concerns over further miscalculation in the volatile theater.
