Iran warns of strikes on U.S. targets

Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters warned that accommodations of US and Israeli military commanders and officials will be considered legitimate targets in retaliation for what it called ongoing aggression against the Islamic Republic. Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaqari said that following hostile actions and strikes on residential buildings in Iranian cities, the Armed Forces would target dwellings of US and “Zionist” commanders and political figures across the region and in the occupied territories.

The statement also addressed the prospect of a US ground invasion, saying Iranian forces are prepared to respond and that any attempt to occupy Iranian territory would meet “devastating consequences.” Zolfaqari warned invading forces could face capture, fragmentation or destruction, and repeated a threat that American personnel would become “food for sharks” in the Persian Gulf.

The warnings come amid a wider cycle of violence that Tehran describes as a response to an attack on its leadership on February 28 that killed senior officials and civilians. Iran says the subsequent campaign targeted military and civilian sites across the country, prompting waves of missile and drone strikes by Iranian forces against US bases in West Asia and Israeli positions in the occupied territories. The exchanges have intensified regional tensions and raised concerns over further escalation.
