Foreign minister says talks and defense serve national goals

Iran links diplomacy with military strength

Iran’s foreign minister said the Foreign Ministry is prepared to negotiate where possible and to fight when necessary, stressing that diplomatic efforts will be closely coordinated with military commanders. Speaking at a Tehran memorial for two late foreign ministers, he described the ministry’s mission as responding to national interests with whichever tools are required — dialogue and negotiation when appropriate, and decisive strength when defense is needed — and said diplomats will “appear with strength” comparable to that of the armed forces.

He honored the careers and moral character of the deceased ministers, praising their professional dedication and recalling their service. He thanked the ministry’s personnel at home and abroad for their roles during a recent conflict and in difficult days after the ceasefire, highlighting the contribution of diplomats and embassy staff who operated under pressure. He said U.S. officials had acknowledged Iran’s success in public diplomacy, asserting that Iranian embassies “won the media and public diplomacy warfare.”

The foreign minister emphasized that foreign policy actions follow and support the broader objectives of the system. He lauded the Iranian people for their “precious presence” in street demonstrations across cities, saying popular backing strengthened the country’s defensive and diplomatic posture. He presented a model of interconnected support — battlefield, diplomacy, and media — and noted that recent events added a fourth side, the public’s street presence, which together form a coordinated national response.
