Airstrikes destroy bridge in Iran

Footage shows destruction at the B1 Bridge in Iran’s Karaj city following airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel.

Authorities in Alborz province said the death toll from the strikes rose to eight, with 95 others wounded. The casualties came after two separate strikes targeting the bridge, the second of which destroyed its central section.

The B1 Bridge, described by officials as the “highest in the Middle East,” is a key transport link connecting the capital Tehran with Karaj.

Iranian media reported that large sections of the nearly 1-kilometer-long structure were reduced to rubble, with videos on social media showing parts of the bridge collapsing after the attacks.

Meanwhile Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as locations in Jordan, Iraq and Persian Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting aviation and global markets.

In a statement The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said that its newly developed and advanced air defenses had shot down a stealth F-35 fighter jet in central Iran. The downed aircraft belonged to the Lakenheath squadron, it said, adding that the fighter jet was completely destroyed and crashed.
