Bar urges probe into attacks on civilian sites

Iran files war crimes complaint

The Iranian Bar Association has submitted extensive legal documentation accusing the United States and Israel of committing war crimes through widespread, deliberate or recklessly indiscriminate attacks on civilians and protected sites.

The filing alleges systematic bombardment of hospitals, medical facilities, schools and universities, and the destruction of vital civilian infrastructure—water treatment, power networks, sanitation, roads, bridges and health research labs—arguing these acts violate the Geneva Conventions, the Rome Statute and customary humanitarian law.

The dossier claims more than 85,000 civilian structures were destroyed or severely damaged, a figure the Association says undermines any claim of military necessity or proportionality. Citing documented evidence and legal analysis, the Association urges the International Criminal Court, the U.N. Human Rights Council and the international legal community to open independent investigations, hold responsible parties accountable, and secure justice and reparations for victims.

The submission represents a major legal challenge to U.S. and Israeli conduct and is likely to intensify global scrutiny of compliance with international humanitarian law in active conflict zones.
