Iran vows retaliation after Naeini death in conflict

IRGC spokesman killed in strikes

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the death of its spokesman, Brig. Gen. Ali Mohammad Naeini, saying he was killed in what it described as US‑Israeli strikes. The IRGC paid tribute to Naeini’s four decades of service, highlighting his roles during the 1980s Iran–Iraq war, his contribution to recent True Promise operations, and his leadership in information and “soft‑war” efforts. The statement called the attack “cowardly,” conveyed condolences to Iran’s leadership and public, and vowed to continue Naeini’s “hopeful and rigid” path while preserving the morale and spiritual influence of popular forces.

Naeini had served as IRGC spokesperson for two years and previously as deputy head of its Public Relations Department. The announcement framed his death within a broader campaign of what the IRGC terms criminal aggression that began with airstrikes on February 28, which it says killed senior Iranian officials; Iranian forces have since carried out near‑daily missile and drone strikes against Israeli targets and U.S. bases and assets across the region.

The IRGC reiterated its retaliatory posture, invoking an “eye for an eye” rationale and claiming its operations have inflicted significant losses on adversaries. Independent confirmation of the circumstances of Naeini’s death and of the incidents cited in the IRGC statement was not provided.
