Iran says attack hit ships in Persian Gulf waters

IRGC claims strike on U.S. vessels

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said its naval units struck six US landing craft utility (LCU) vessels in the Persian Gulf, claiming many American casualties and that three of the vessels sank while the others were ablaze.

The IRGC said the operation was part of “Wave 84” of its True Promise 4 campaign and used domestically produced missiles, including Qadr 380 cruise missiles, alongside kamikaze drones targeting US drone-unit gathering points and a hotel in Dubai. The statement also claimed strikes destroyed refueling vehicles and logistical-support assets at Al‑Kharj base.

Tehran framed the strikes as retaliation for a large-scale US–Israeli campaign it says began after high-profile assassinations on Feb. 28, which it alleges targeted both military and civilian sites across Iran and caused heavy casualties and infrastructure damage. The IRGC described its actions as continued reprisals against US and Israeli forces in the region.

The US and other international actors have not been cited in this account. The developments come amid escalating exchanges of missile, drone and other strikes across West Asia that have heightened regional tensions and the risk of broader confrontation.
